A closer look
Image files may contain camera settings, capture dates, orientation, copyright notes, or location coordinates in addition to the pixels. The viewer shows tags the installed parser can read, alongside basic file information. Missing EXIF does not mean a file has never been edited, and editable metadata is not proof of when or where an image was captured. Not every private or vendor-specific tag is supported.
A practical example
Check a camera JPG before publishing it to see whether readable EXIF tags include camera details or GPS coordinates. Missing tags do not prove that all identifying information is absent.
