Reduce the size of photographs for websites, messages, and forms. Lower quality usually produces smaller files by discarding fine detail. The pixel dimensions stay the same. PNG input can be converted to a lossy format, but a simple graphic may already be smaller as PNG. The tool reports when the output is not smaller so you can make an informed choice.

A useful tip
Start around 80% quality and inspect small text and edges in the preview. For a larger reduction, resize the image before compressing it.

Will every image become smaller?
No. An already optimized image can grow after re-encoding. Try lower quality, another format, or smaller pixel dimensions.
What happens to transparency?
WebP can preserve transparency. JPG does not support it, so transparent areas receive a white background.
