How to use GPA Calculator
- Select the maximum grade points used by your school, such as 4, 5, or 10.
- For each course, enter its grade points and credits. Add more rows as needed.
- Read the live weighted GPA. Remove a row to leave that course out.
A closer look
Weighted GPA divides total credit-weighted grade points by total credits. A 3-credit course with 4 points and a 1-credit course with 2 points gives (3 × 4 + 1 × 2) ÷ 4 = 3.50. Longer courses therefore contribute more than shorter ones. Enter numeric grade points from your institution’s rules; this tool does not assume every school assigns the same points to a letter grade.
A practical example
A three-credit course with 4 grade points and a one-credit course with 2 points give a weighted GPA of 3.50. Enter your institution’s numeric grade points.
A useful tip
Do not enter a percentage such as 85 when your school’s GPA scale is 4. Convert it using your school’s published grading rules first.
Good questions. Simple answers.
What about pass/fail or repeated courses?
Include only courses and credits that count toward GPA under your institution’s policy. Repeat-course replacement rules vary and are not applied automatically.
Can I use a different grading scale?
Yes. Select Custom maximum and enter a maximum from 1 to 100. Changing the maximum validates your points; it does not convert them.
