A sentence total can help you compare drafts or plan short exercises. This counter uses your browser’s language-aware text segmentation, so it can recognize more than just English full stops. A final unfinished sentence with letters or numbers still counts. Punctuation-only sections are ignored. It measures the structure of the writing; it does not judge grammar or readability.
A practical example
Hello world! Another sentence. contains two sentences. A line containing only punctuation does not add a meaningful sentence to the count.
A useful tip
Abbreviations, headings, and unusual punctuation can make sentence boundaries ambiguous. Review those parts if an exact editorial count matters.

Does a sentence need a full stop?
No. A final phrase such as ‘See you tomorrow’ can count even without punctuation at the end.
How are emojis counted?
Characters use visible text units: a joined family emoji or a letter with an accent counts as one character. Spaces count too.
