Use this converter for furniture dimensions, walking distances, or measurements on a drawing. Every length is compared through meters. An international inch is exactly 0.0254 meters, so 1 inch is 2.54 centimeters and 1 mile is 1.609344 kilometers. These definitions differ from historical survey units. Converting a measurement changes how it is written; it does not make the original measurement more precise.
A practical example
10 inches equals 25.4 centimeters. One international mile equals 1.609344 kilometers; swap the units to work in the other direction.
A useful tip
For a height written as 5 feet 6 inches, enter 5.5 feet or 66 inches. Typing 5.6 feet means a different height.
